Austin Modern Home Tour Recap

I've been in Austin a total of one year and four months. This town has events everyday but one of my must-do's, must check out every year is the Modern Home Tour by the fabulous minds of Launch 787. Last year was my very first so I really didn't know what to expect but had a blast. This year was even better than the last I thought [or maybe because we are back in the 60's weather after a week of 20's].

The tour had 16 homes of which we were able to do 7, not bad I thought. Me, and my friend, Kindra we're thoroughly inspired. Although, there wasn't any clear cut plan, I thought we did excellent with the tour. Comfortable shoes...check, little snacks & water check, camera on hand, a trusty Iphone to map our destinations check, and we went early, so important as parking can be horrible.

Forgive the crappy, non-DSLR taken images. You can preview better images here. We each had our own favorites of course. Mine was the one on [check out the images here] Mary .Maybe because I could see myself living here [our own urban cottage maybe?] and it wasn't dauntingly big like the others.

 Simple is beautiful.

Second floor, I'm scared to look down the glass.

This one was on West 9th. Clarksville! Lovely, lovely location. I borrowed the images here as it's just remarkable!

This one's a fave as well. It's right smack on 6th street in a historical building built in 1882. The feel was a bit retro on the inside but totally groovy. It seems the BeeGee's pop in anytime at this place.

We ended the tour with appetizers & drinks at Eddie V's [happy hour prices, who can beat that?]. Yum! Lovely day, lovely friend, an amazing tour & for a whopping $15 only [which my friend insisted on paying if I did the driving---great compromise], it was a great way to spend Saturday. Now, I'm just waiting for the organizers to launch a Cottage Home Tour...

What a fun way to spend a day, love so many things about the house, the vintage signs particularly!
